Complicated, intricate intertwining of several faith traditions and metaphysics. Stunning writing, but the ideas and the storyline sometimes diverge too greatly to make sense to me. Overall, though, the individual narratives are lush, beautiful, and thought-provoking. I highly recommend. City of God
